Xiaomi 12 Ultra exposure – launch date, price, specs & more

Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship processors are the major chips on Android smartphones. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 did not exactly meet up with users’ expectations especially as it is behind the Dimensity 9000 SoC. Nevertheless, Qualcomm is working on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ which will use TSMC’s 4nm process. According to reports, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will be official on May 20th. Thus, new smartphones with this processor will start hitting the market after May 20th. According to xiaomiui, the latest software version of Xiaomi 12 Ultra (codenamed Thor) is V13.0.0.3.SLACNXM. Because the stable version is not yet ready, this means that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra may not go official until June or even July.

In terms of configuration, there are reports that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra uses a 6.73-inch 3200 x 1440 resolution display. This flagship smartphone will also come with an LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel. This display can adaptively adjust the refresh rate up to 120Hz.

This smartphone will also come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ thus it will certainly arrive after May. In addition, the bigger highlight is the three-camera system on the back. This camera system includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera. On the front, this device will also come with a 48-megapixel selfie camera.

For higher image performance, Xiaomi 12 Ultra will also use Xiaomi’s self-developed Surge C2 ISP for the first time. As for the shape, the renderings given by xiaomiui are different from the previous circular configuration. However, they are somewhat similar to the vertical style in the upper left corner of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series.

The delay in the launch of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is due to some upgrades in the device to achieve perfection. However, with the TSMC 4nm version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus expected to be launched this month, the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra is clearly on the way. There are reports that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will have three colour options. The available colours include black, white and marble. As for the prices, the leak claims that this device will sell for the prices below

  • 8GB + 256GB – 5999 yuan ($885)

  • 12GB + 512GB – 6799 yuan ($1,003)

Comparing the price list above to the price of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, the first two versions of Xiaomi 12 Ultra are exactly the same. However, the 12GB + 512GB is 200 yuan ($30) cheaper. Furthermore, the 12 Ultra adds a new 16GB + 512GB “Emperor Edition”.

In terms of configuration, Xiaomi 12 Ultra comes with a 6.73-inch 2K 120Hz OLED screen (LTPO 2.0). This device is confirmed to use the SD8 Gen1+ SOC but there are conflicting reports regarding its front camera. While some report says that it will use a 48MP front camera, others say it will use a 32MP selfie shooter. Under the hood, this flagship smartphone will come with a 4900 mAh battery that supports 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.

Light of a new generation of Android

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is now officially in production and mass production will commence at the end of the month. The company’s camera system will upgrade using a new super-large photosensitive unit, which should be the Sony IMX9 series with an outsole close to one inch.

Previously, the ultra-wide angle of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was the 48MP Sony IMX586. This time, the ultra-wide angle of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will inherit the previous generation. The telephoto aspect will be the same as the previous generation. The IMX586 supports 5X optical zoom and can achieve up to 120X digital zoom.

In addition to the Surge C2 chip, this device will also use the Surge P1 chip for charging. This ensures that the device has higher guarantees in terms of temperature control and safety.
