Intel is an absolute leader in the PC chip market. But it’s also one of the world’s most innovative companies. Recently, the company began revising its business culture. As the company’s executive, Christy Pambianchi said, “the pandemic compressed a decade’s worth of change into months. From a crisis came an opportunity to reimagine how we work and collaborate.” For Intel, it was a stimulus to start becoming the “hybrid-first” company.
Definition Of Hybrid-First Company
The latter is described as a business culture to provide a dynamic, flexible, and inclusive workplace. When completely switched, Intel’s 101,600 employees will do their best to make the company a results-driven organization.
In 2020, the pandemic made many companies go off. Most of them returned after a few months of lockdowns. What Intel did was quite different. It began collecting data referring to every working place. After data processing, they made decisions for almost all sites. They saw this works and decided to use it in designing their future workplaces.
According to the internal survey conducted in April 2021, 90% of Intel employees said that they prefer a hybrid workplace. Recently, the company published the 2021-2022 Corporate Social Responsibility Report.

The latter proves Intel’s intentions of becoming a “hybrid-first” company. It will allow most employees to work remotely part-time and in-office part-time. At the same time, Intel increased its employee compensation budget, which includes about $1 billion in salaries and about $1.4 billion in stock.
In addition, Intel said that in 2021, they continued to focus on career development and the cultivation of diverse talents. By the end of 2021, Intel had 1,449 women in senior management positions worldwide, 74 more than the milestone target of 1,375.
Intel’s Working Models
Well, getting back to the working models, Intel adopts three:
Hybrid: The employees are allowed to split their time between working remotely and in the office. However, there are no limitations regarding the number of days per week. Instead, the company is empowering teams to find the balance that would drive the best results.
On-site: Intel is not a software company. So some roles require always “on-site” full-time work. This especially refers to the employees who work in labs and factories.
Fully remote: depending on the nature of the work, some employees will be allowed to work from home.
“Over the past 20 months, we have learned we can be incredibly successful virtually, but we believe human connection fuels innovation.”
