Vivo has just added a new smartphone to the Vivo Y-series. The device in question was unleashed today with the Vivo Y72t 5G moniker. The handset is now reaching the Chinese market with a MediaTek Dimensity processor ensuring full 5G capabilities. The phone has a gorgeous Full HD+ display and a capable rear camera with a 50 MP respçitopm. There are other compelling specifications such as a massive battery. However, worth noting that this is a budget-oriented smartphone. Without further ado, let’s see what the Vivo Y72t has in tow for the competitive market of China.
Vivo Y72t alleged specifications
The Vivo Y72t packs a 6.58-inch Full HD+ LCD screen with 2,400 x 1,080 pixels of resolution. The display comes with a waterdrop notch cutout at the top. Moreover, it has a 401 ppi pixel density and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Unfortunately, the phone cut some corners and the display gets a huge sacrifice of just a 60 Hz refresh rate. Most of the devices are coming with at least 90 Hz, so it’s sad to see just 60 Hz with this smartphone.
Under the hood, the Vivo Y-series handset packs a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor with an integrated Mali G57 GPU. The phone also has 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and has up to 256 GB of UFS storage. The device runs OriginOS 1.0, based on Android 11. This is certainly another of this phone’s lackluster aspects. After all, Android 12 is available for almost one year, and Google is already on the way to releasing Android 13. Vivo isn’t known for rolling out fast software updates, so if you want the latest Android 12, then this device may not be the best option. Anyway, let’s move on.
The Vivo Y72t packs a dual-rear camera setup. It brings a primary 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP macro camera. Furthermore, for selfies and video calls, the phone has a simple 8 MP shooter. The lights are kept by a massive 6,000 mAh battery. That’s always a good aspect of low-end smartphones, they deliver in battery size. Unfortunately, charging this battery will be a challenge, after all, there is only 18 W charging.
The Vivo Y72t comes in three distinct colorways – Interstellar Powder, Deep Sea Black, and Blue Sea. It comes with a USB Type-C charging port, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device weighs 200 grams and measures 163.87 x 75.33 x 9.17 mm.
The device comes a few days after the release of the Vivo S15 series smartphones, and nearly one month after the release of the Vivo X80 series. The company clearly has smartphones for all pricing segments in China.
