The iPhone 14 series will introduce a series of changes to the Apple smartphone series. We can list a lot of differences, for example, the new design language for the Pro models. As per reports, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will ditch the notch for once and all in favor of a “punch-hole notch”. Apple isn’t getting rid of the Face ID but is leaving the notch behind. As a result, there will be an “exclamation mark” punch-hole at the center that will serve to fit the camera and the Face ID sensors. We already saw a couple of pill-shaped punch-holes, but this design will be a first for the industry. The lineup will also introduce a new iPhone 14 Max variant that takes place of the mini. It will basically be the vanilla, but with a bigger display and battery. There will also be differences in hardware between the Pro and non-Pro models, for the first time. Last but not least, the lineup will bring a significant upgrade for the selfie snapper.
Gizchina News of the week
There will be significant upgrades in the selfie department such as an auto-focus feature. The previous selfie cameras had just fixed focus, but Apple decided to improve this feature. The company is reportedly looking to buy high-end cameras and is looking at LG Innotek for the supply of these cameras alongside Sharp. Interestingly, this is the first time that the iPhone front-facing camera will come from a South-Korean company. That’s a major twist, after all, Apple has been sticking with low-end selfie cameras for years.
iPhone 14 selfie camera will bring major advancements
The report states that the LG Innotek was initially supposed to supply cameras for the iPhone 15. However, Apple has moved the schedule forward in a hurry. Apparently, the Cupertino-based company found some serious issues with the quality of Chinese cameras. These issues surfaced during the quality testing. As a result, the Chinese companies lost the orders, and LG Innotek was brought in as a replacement for the iPhone 14 series. Worth noting, however, that this currently stands as a rumor. So you need to digest the news with a pinch of salt.
Apart from the autofocus feature, the exact upgrades coming with the iPhone 14 series camera are unclear. However, the upgrades were enough to make the overall iPhone 14 front-camera price rise by around three times. The new iPhones are reportedly coming in September.
