Apart from OnePlus, the companies under the BBK Electronic groups aren’t very fast when it comes to rolling software updates. We’re saying this when even OnePlus can’t be considered super-fast anymore. However, it is still rolling out major updates at a better pace than its sister companies, or its new parent brand – Oppo. Well, in the end, it’s always better late than never. Today, Oppo is rolling out the ColorOS 12 update with Android 12 for several of its smartphones including the Oppo F19.
Worth noting, that Oppo has shared its update schedule confirming the update for some of its smartphones in May. Therefore, the company is honoring this schedule. A couple of smartphones were supposed to get the Android 12 update on May 24, however, they received the update a bit earlier. Oppo had begun seeding the OTA software update on May 23. For those unaware, the Oppo F19 and Oppo F19s were released exclusively in India. The same devices are available in Indonesia, but with Oppo A74 and Oppo A95 monikers.
Gizchina News of the week
Oppo F19 and its rebranded siblings are getting ColorOS 12
According to the official announcement posts on the Oppo community, the update arrives with firmware version C.09 for all four devices. Worth noting, that the company revealed that these devices were under the beta testing program in the beginning of April. Therefore, the company managed to make these updates stable in less than two months. That’s still better than Realme’s beta pgroam that can take several months to reach stability.
The update is rolling out over the air, so it’s necessary certain patience. The OTA software builds for these smartphones are being pushed in batches. Thsat means that these updates may still take a few days or weeks to reach all eligible smartphones. Anyway, you can try your luck navigating to Settings >> Software updates menu. The companies also tend to go slow with the first batch to check whether there’s any critical bug that escaped the testing phase.
The update comes with Android 12 and all the goodies introduced by Google last year. Of course, ColorOS 12 also comes with its own plethora of features. To recall, the Oppo F19 is a mid-range smartphone with Snapdragon 662 SoC with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Storage. It may be one of the few Snapdragon 662-powered smartphones that is running Andorid 12, at least officially.
