A new report shows that Apple’s Safari browser finally broke the 1 billion user mark. It is now officially the second browser with 1 billion users. However, the Safari browser is still a long way from Google Chrome. According to an atlas report, 1,006,232,879 internet users (19.16% of all internet users) are using the Safari browser. The statistics are based on GlobalStats browser market share percentages and then converted to numbers using Internet World Stats internet user metrics. While Safari has over 1 billion users, Google Chrome has three times as many users with 3,378,967,819 total users.
However, the Microsoft Edge browser is far behind the Safari browser with only 212,695,000 users. Nevertheless, considering desktop users only, Microsoft surpasses Safari and it is the second most popular desktop browser.
Furthermore, the report claims that the Apple Safari browser will be on every new iPhone and Mac computer. This obviously provides an advantage for Apple to expand the users of this browser. However, pre-installing the browser on its devices does not guarantee that users will use the browser. Some users will still opt for third-party browsers.
