According to recent rumors, Microsoft is working on a new Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2. In fact, the company seems to be preparing a new round of Surface devices, including a possible Surface Duo 3 device. However, the latest round of leaks revolves around the alleged Surace Laptop Go 2. According to the reports, the new laptop will go official as early as this month in different markets. As per a new report from The Verge, the laptop was spotted in a South Korean retailer listing. The laptop will certainly reach the South Korean market, but we expect it to also hit the United States pretty soon. According to the initial specs list, it’s an affordable low-end laptop.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 specs and features
Since it’s an affordable laptop, Microsoft is cutting some corners, and we can see some of these cuts in the processor. It comes with the 11th generation Intel CPU, the Intel Core i5 – 1135G7. This isn’t a bad processor at all, but Intel is already in the 12th generation, and we may even see the 13th generation debuting later this year. Anyway, it’s an affordable laptop and the Intel Core i5 will serve its purpose. It’s already an evolution over the original Surface Laptop Go. The original laptop launched in 2020 and had a 10th-generation Intel Core CPU. The new laptop will bring Windows 11 OS straight out of the box and will have an improved HD camera.
Gizchina News of the week
As per the listing, the upcoming Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 will be available for pre-order from June 2. Therefore, there are two possibilities – the first one is a quiet launch, and the second one is an announcement in the next few hours. In any case, we won’t need to wait much. According to a previous report by Winfuture.de, the Surface Laptop Go 2 will hit the market with a starting price of $650. That’s a decent price for a low-end / mid-tier laptop. And of course, there are certain benefits from getting a Microsoft product if you want to get the best of Windows and its services.
The listing confirms 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of Internal Storage. However, there are rumors about a starting option with just 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage. These specs are super low for 2022 standards. 4 GB of RAM is the bare minimum for Windows 11, at least to the official recommended specs list. However, it’s not much nowadays. In any case, it’s better to pick the higher option. The affordable laptop will also have a battery that provides 13.5 hours of usage. Unfortunately, the capacity hasn’t been tipped.
The Surface Laptop Go 2 will bring a 12.4-inch screen that will fit the new 3:2 aspect ratio. Some of the connectivity options include a USB-A port, a USB C port, a proprietary charging port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The laptop will miss a backlit keyboard. Microsoft will sell it in four colorways: Sage, Platinum, Ice Blue, and Sandstone.
