Google Meet and Google Duo To Merge Into One Soon

Google Meet

Messaging apps are among the most-used apps around the globe. Currently, there are tons of similar apps, and honestly, most of them work quite well. We have no complaints. But a variety of such apps makes users confused. That’s why most of them prefer those that come our way from big names, such as Google, Facebook, Apple, etc. The situation worsens when the mentioned tech giants offer more than one app. This is the case with Google. It’s been offering Google Meet for business users mainly, while Google Duo aims at ordinary users. The latter has been also rivaling Apple’s FaceTime. Anyway, everything will change in the coming weeks.

As Google said in a blog post, the company will merge Google Meet and Google Duo apps. The merging will start “in the coming weeks” Google Duo will start getting all of the Meet features. Later this year, there will be no Google Duo, but Google Meet. So in several months, Meet will become the only video communication service of the company, offering all features found on the current two apps.

However, those who know Google shouldn’t be surprised. Yes, this is Google, which likes launching, shelving, re-launching, re-branding, re-shelving, re-resurrecting, and merging its products and services. This is especially true for messaging-related apps.
