For a couple of decades, Apple (and its partners) has been making money by selling accessories and peripherals that are compatible with Apple products only. This was a real headache for average customers. But for Apple and its fans, it was the way they differ from “mortal men”. As you know, recently, the European Union has officially announced the unification of chargers. By the end of 2024, all smartphones including the iPhones should support charging through USB-C.
The new agreement touches many digital devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, e-readers, earbuds, digital cameras, headphones and headsets, handheld videogame consoles, and portable speakers rechargeable via a wired cable, keyboards, computer mice, and portable navigation devices.
Switching To USB-C Will Start With iPhone 15 Pro
In this regard, the whistleblower @LeaksApplePro said that Apple will try to use the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 series. Among various models in the lineup, the iPhone 15 Pro will use the USB-C port. Whereas the iPhone 15 will continue to use the Lightning port. The iPhone 16 will use the USB-C port. Moreover, the iPhone 16 Pro will switch to a USB-C port or no port concept. So it turns out, with the iPhone 16, the Lightning interface will be discontinued.
