MIUI 13.5: The list of Xiaomi smartphones that will not receive the update

MIUI 13.5

After launching MIUI 13 last December in China along with the recent Xiaomi 12s; the Chinese manufacturer finally started rolling out the update in Global markets in early spring. As a reminder, the update notably brought new customization elements around widgets, better protection of personal data, an ever faster and smoother interface and above all better compatibility with tablets. And it seems that now it’s time for the next version – MIUI 13.5

Xiaomi recently launched a special version of MIUI 13 optimized for foldable smartphones and is now preparing to roll out MIUI 13.5, a new version bringing its share of new features. Among them are new animations, news icons, new interface elements and a redesigned Control Center. There are also plenty of software enhancements, like better battery management and performance improvements.

Unfortunately, as with every update, Xiaomi will abandon some smartphones. We find for example the famous Mi 9 series or the Redmi Note 8 series, which will have to be satisfied with MIUI 13. Here is the complete list of smartphones which will not receive MIUI 13.5 according to information from Xiaomiui.

MIUI 13.5 unsupported devices

MIUI 13.5

  • Mi 9 / 9 SE / 9 Lite / 9 Pro
  • Mi 9T / Mi 9T Pro
  • Mi-CC9 / Mi CC9 Meitu
  • Redmi K20 / K20 Pro / K20 Pro Premium
  • Redmi Note 8 / Note 8T / Note 8 Pro
  • Redmi-9A / 9AT / 9i / 9C
  • POCO C3 / C31

While it is heartbreaking to see these devices no longer receiving official updates, it comes their time to retire. As with new MIUI skin updates, the operating system becomes more and more dependent on the Android version, and because these devices run the old Android 11 version, it becomes more difficult to adapt new features to this old Android foundation, which is why support was withdrawn.

So, the list of eligible smartphones is fortunately much longer and includes all of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco most recent smartphones and tablets. It includes Xiaomi 12, 11 and 10 smartphone series, among others. You can check the full list of devices that will get the update from here.
