Apple’s M2-packed Macbooks will be available in the UAE for Dh4,999

Apple upgraded its MacBook lineup recently along with a new operating system, including a newly revamped MacBook Air and enhancements to the 13-inch MacBook Pro that uses the new M2 CPU. These laptops take things to “the next level,” in line with all of Apple’s launch bluster.

The MacBook Air has a slimmer form and comes with a bigger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a four-speaker sound system, and MagSafe charging. It is very tiny, measuring just 11.3 mm, and weighs just 2.7 pounds.

For the UAE market, the MacBook Air costs Dh4,999, and students may get it for Dh4,579. Starting in July, customers will have a choice of four finishes: silver, space grey, midnight, and starlight.

The M2 chip, which will provide better performance with up to 24GB of unified memory, ProRes acceleration, and 20 hours of battery life, is finally included in the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Starting prices for the new MacBook Pro are Dh5,499 and Dh5,079 for students. Additionally, starting in July, Apple will offer 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M1 Pro and M1 Max.

The M2, which comes from Apple’s own production line, contains an upgraded 8-core CPU with improved speed and efficiency; as well as an upgraded GPU with up to 10 cores, two more than the M1.

The most recent chip generation supports up to 24GB of quick unified memory and offers 100GB/s of unified memory bandwidth. Additionally, M2 introduces a powerful ProRes video engine and a next-generation media engine for hardware-accelerated encoding and decoding. The ability to play back more streams of 4K and 8K video than before; will thus be available on systems with M2.

The MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro will have tools like Universal Control to make it simple for users to work across Mac and iPad, while AirPlay to Mac allows users to play anything from their iPhone or iPad directly to their Mac.
