The Vivo Y77 5G has been launched in Malaysia. This is the latest mid-range entrant in Vivo’s well-received Y-series of smartphones. To recap, the Vivo Y77 5G went official in other markets earlier this week. The device seems to bear a striking resemblance to the Vivo Y55+ lower-end smartphone. To recap, the Y55+ made its debut more than a month ago. However, Y77 5G carries a steeper price tag than the Y55+. Vivo has justified the price difference by making some changes in the hardware department.
Vivo had recently announced the Y77 5G launch date in Malaysia via a tweet. Now, the handset has finally arrived in the country with decent specifications. However, the Malaysian variant of the Y77 5G does not retain the same specs as the Chinese version. The local variant comes with a 6.58-inch LCD panel. Notably, this display offers a refresh rate of 60Hz. This is a notable downgrade as compared to the Chinese model.

The Y77 5G Chinese model sports a larger 6.64-inch AMOLED panel. However, this display delivers a higher refresh rate of 120HZ. Also, the screen has a tear-drop cutout that provides real estate for the selfie camera. Likewise, the side edge houses a fingerprint sensor for additional security. The right edge provides accommodation to the volume rocker. Under the hood, the phone packs a MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC. However, the Chinese variant ships with a Dimensity 930 chip.
Gizchina News of the week
The 5G-ready phone from Vivo is available in a sole configuration. The handset ships with 8GB of RAM and offers 256GB of internal storage. However, you can expand this onboard storage with the help of a microSD card. Further, the handset comes with a virtual RAM extension feature. So, the Y77 5G can boost memory up to 4GB. In the photography department, the Malaysian model houses a 50MP main sensor on the back. Also, it has a 2MP macro lens for capturing images from 4cm away.
Specs, Price & Availability
Now, the Y77 5G offers a wide range of connectivity options. For instance, it comes with Bluetooth 5.1 and dual-band Wi-Fi support. Further, the dual-SIM smartphone has a 3.5mm audio jack. As the name suggests, the Y77 supports 5G connectivity as well. Regrettably, the device does not support NFC. Now, a robust 5,000mAh battery powers up the entire system on the Malaysian version. However, the Chinese model uses a 4,500mAh battery to draw its juices.
The Chinese model gets 80W fast wired charging, while the local variant supports 18W charging. As per Vivo, the cell can last up to 18 hours when watching YouTube videos. The Vivo Y77 5G is available for pre-order in Malaysia via Lazada, and Shopee. Alternatively, you can pre-order it from the official Vivo online store. The Vivo Y77 5G price in Malaysia is RM1,299. You can get RM597 worth of gifts between July 8 to July 15. Vivo will be offering 1-year screen protection, and a 1-year extended warranty as well. Also, you can end up getting free Foomee-branded earbuds and vouchers.
