Honor X40i 5G

Honor managed to reconquer its place as a relevant smartphone maker in China as soon as it got free from the Huawei ties. The company no longer needs to deal with the constraints that affect its former parent company and is constantly pushing new devices to keep its name in the headlines. After a couple of interesting flagships, and new Honor 70 smartphones, the company is back with a new budget device. As speculated, The Honor X40i arrives as a new contender for the super-competitive budget segment. The device brings 5G, a gorgeous design, a huge display, and fast-charging tech. Without further ado, let’s see what the Honor X40i has in tow for the market.

Honor X40i specifications

Honor X40i

The Honor X40i flaunts a gorgeous 6.7-inch LTPS LCD screen with a Full HD+ resolution. Unfortunately, the panel only has a 60 Hz refresh rate which feels like a look at the past, even for a budget smartphone. The device runs with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 which could easily handle a 90 Hz refresh rate. However, Honor has decided to cut some corners in the display. Despite the low specs, the device has a stylish look with a sleek profile of just 7.43 mm and weighs around 175 grams.

Interestingly, Honor is being quite generous with this device. The base variant has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and there is a higher model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of Internal Storage.

Honor X40i

The Honor X40i brings a dual-camera setup at the back with a 50 MP main camera. Unfortunately, the secondary snapper is modest with just a 2 MP resolution. The company tries to mimic the design of the flagship Honor smartphones with the “eight” camera design. It may be a budget smartphone, but we have to say that it looks like a premium device.

Furthermore, on the specs, the Honor X40i runs the company’s Magic UI 6.1 based on the latest Android 12. It draws power from a 4,000 mAh battery with 40 W fast charging. The battery size is considered “modest” nowadays, especially for a low-end smartphone. After all, most of the devices in the category come with 5,000 mAh batteries nowadays. However, the capacity should not be a problem with the 40 W charging. It should bring the device from flat to 100% in less than one hour.

Pricing and Availability

The Honor X40i is available in Rose Pink, Silver, Green, and Black colorways. The base model costs CNY 1,599 (~$238) whereas the higher model costs CNY 1,999 ($297).
