Huawei successfully registers the Petal Payment trademark

HarmonyOS

Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, has been working on the Harmony ecosystem since its launch in 2019. The Petal platform is part of the larger HarmonyOS ecosystem. The Petal platform has sub-platforms like Petal translator, Petal search, Petal map and now, Petal Payment (or Petal Pay) is coming. The progress of the two “petal payment” trademarks applied by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. has been changed to “registered”. The two trademark applications were filed in October 2020, and the international classifications are financial property management and scientific instruments.

In addition, Huawei applied for the “Petal Payment” trademark for scientific instruments again in December 2021. The current status of the trademark is pending substantive examination. Petal Payment coverage includes real estate management; debit card payment processing and insurance information. It also covers electronic transfers, online banking, credit card payment processing and currency exchange. In addition, it covers e-wallet payment services, capital investment, and provides discounts to others at participating institutions through the use of membership cards.

Huawei Pay has 100 million monthly users

Recently, Huawei Pay has reached 100 million monthly active users. Ma Chuanyong, president of Huawei’s terminal cloud service payment business group, said today that Huawei Pay is not trying to compete with Alipay and WeChat Pay. The company claims that these payment platforms are still Huawei’s partners. Huawei Pay is to open up new payment scenarios, and cars are an incremental scenario.

With the launch of the Harmony operating system, Huawei Pay is the infrastructure for building the Harmony ecosystem. Huawei Pay is for mobile phones, smart screens, tablets, computers, and cars, covering multiple terminals and all scenarios. In addition, Huawei Pay will explore more scenarios based on the HarmonyOS.

As of now, Huawei did not officially release the details of the Petal payment system. However, what we know is that this feature will enable mobile payment with the HarmonyOS system.
