Data.ai (formerly App Annie) conducted a study of the mobile app market in 13 countries. They found that smartphone users are spending more and more time on mobile apps. At the moment, this figure is 4-5 hours a day.
While the amount of time people spend daily on mobile apps varies by country, residents of 13 countries currently spend more than 4 hours daily on average. These include residents of Indonesia, Singapore, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, India, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Russia, Turkey, the US and the UK. At the same time, in Indonesia, Singapore and Brazil, users spend more than 5 hours a day in mobile applications.

It is noted that the growth in the time of use of mobile applications has slowed down compared to the second quarter of 2020, when at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, there was a rapid increase in the popularity of mobile applications in all categories. Users around the world had to work and study from home, shop online, play more mobile games, and communicate with each other using various video conferencing services.

It appears that in some countries, users have retained habits that were acquired during the pandemic. This applies to the time spent using various mobile applications; which not only did not decrease after the normalization of the situation in healthcare; but also continued to grow. For example, residents of Singapore in the second quarter of 2020 spent an average of 4.1 hours per day in mobile applications; and in the second quarter of 2022 this figure increased to 5.7 hours per day. In Australia, between Q2 2020 and Q2 2022, time spent on apps increased from 3.6 hours to 4.9 hours. In both cases, an increase of 40% is there.
At the same time, data.ai has published a rating of the most popular games and applications in the second quarter. In terms of the number of downloads worldwide, Instagram, and in terms of consumer spending, TikTok leads. Among non-gaming apps, Facebook continues to lead in MAUs, ahead of WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, and more.
