The tallest building in Singapore is the 284m-tall Guoco Tower. But soon, there will be another skyscraper far exceeding this height. Well, this news doesnât sound odd. Whatâs more interesting is that the new building will be built by Alibaba and a consortium led by Singapore-based real estate company Perennial Holdings. It will be a 63-storey at Shenton Way in the Central Business District. In the documents, we can read that the maximum height of the new building will be 305m.

The local Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) spokesperson said that this is going to be the tallest building in Singapore. âThe allowable building heights are subject to technical requirements as well as an evaluation based on respective site context,â she said. “Developments would have to be built in accordance with the approved plans and guidelines.”

Details on the Tallest Building in Singapore
The new skyscraper that Alibaba is going to build will be on the site of a building that currently has 50 floors. We are talking about the AXA Tower. Once done, this will become the only building in Singapore, of which the height exceeds 280m. However, there are still many years before Alibaba and its partner in Singapore will complete construction by 2028.
As for the new tallest building in Singapore, it will include retail stores, restaurants, offices, hotels, and residential components. There will also be an underground pedestrian link. The latter will occupy up to 148,450 sq m in total gross floor area.
â59% or 87,967 sq m of the buildingâs permitted gross floor area will be set aside for commercial use, while another 49,421 sq m will be allocated for 215 residential apartments with sky terraces,â says Channel News Asia.
However, this shouldnât be surprising for those who are following the financial deals of Alibaba. We mean in 2020, the Group bought a 50% stake in AXA Tower in a deal valuing the property at S$1.68 billion.
