Motorola was certainly the first smartphone maker to launch a 200 MP camera smartphone. However, it will not remain the only one for much longer. There are rumors flowing around Xiaomi’s first 200 MP camera smartphone. We have been expecting the Redmi K50 Ultra to come with this 2022 MP camera. However, that was not the case as the device hit China featuring a 108 MP shooter. However, it seems that Xiaomi still plans to bring a 200 MP camera that seems to use the Redmi K50 Ultra as a base. Today an alleged Xiaomi 12T Pro has leaked in the wild with a 200 MP camera in tow.
Xiaomi 12T Pro – Xiaomi’s first 200 MP camera smartphone
A new leak has been revealed from Phonandroid. It showcases the possible Xiaomi 12T Pro with a camera island that clearly resembles the Redmi K50 Ultra. However, this one clearly has a “200 MP” in the writing. The source itself, claims that this is a Xiaomi 12T Pro smartphone. Interestingly, the 12T series was born from the Redmi K-series as global rebrandings. Nowadays, however, Xiaomi separates these devices making the 12T more original when compared to their K-series counterparts. That said, the Xiaomi 12T Pro may be based on the Redmi K50 Ultra, but still can have some changes here and there. The 200 MP is certainly a very notable change.

If Xiaomi decides to change the camera and leave just the remaining specs, the device will be a flagship with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Interestingly, the Redmi K50 Ultra bears model number 22081212C, while the alleged Xiaomi 12T Pro carries the 22081212UG model number. The last letter is different between the two models, “C” is for China and “G” for global markets.
Alleged specifications
Taking the Redmi K50 Ultra into consideration, and assuming Xiaomi is keeping other specs, it’s easy to know what to expect. The Xiaomi 12T Pro may bring a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with 2,712 x 1,220 resolution, HDR 10+, Dolby Vision, and 144 Hz refresh rate. The phone will pack the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC all will start with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Storage. The K50 Ultra has up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of Storage. But we don’t if this variant is coming, there is 256 GB with 8 GB or 12 GB in China as well. One of these will certainly come.
In terms of optics, the Xiaomi 12T Pro will likely keep the 8 MP ultrawide shooter and 2 MP macro. So, the 200 MP camera may be the only major highlight of this phone. There is also a 20 MP wide camera for selfies and video calls.
Other possible specs include stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6e, NFC, IR Blaster, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. The device has an excellent 5,000 mAh battery capacity with 120W fast charging.
