On September 7, Apple will hold its “Far Out” event at the Steve Jobs Theater where the world expects the introduction of the new iPhone 14 series. The new iPhone 14 lineup will bring four new models with significant differences from the Pro models, and a new Max variant that is replacing the mini. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are the only ones bringing real hardware advancements such as the Apple A16 Bionic, and similarly are the only ones getting the new punch-hole design. These models may also be the only ones with the rumored satellite communication. But apparently, this feature will not remain exclusive to the iPhone lineup for a long time. The upcoming Apple Watch Pro series may also get this feature.
Apple Watch Pro series will also get satellite communication in the future
To those unaware, the Far Out event will also serve as a stage for the release of more products. The Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Pro will also share the stage. The latter is the long-rumored “rugged” or at least “more durable” Apple smartwatch. The device will get a distinct design and better materials such as a sapphire glass coat for the display. It’s the first watch of a new lineup that will get some advanced features like satellite communication. On the iPhone 14 series, this feature will allow people to send emergency texts even in places where there is no cellular connectivity.
Gizchina News of the week
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman states in his Power On Newsletter that the future generations of the Apple Watch Pro may bring the feature. According to him, the company has already discussed offering the feature on smartwatches. It makes sense! Just imagine: If you’re in an emergency without a network, lost access, or can’t get your smartphone easily, the watch will be on your wrist. With satellite communication, you can easily send emergency texts. On the wearable, we imagine that there will be some quick messages to choose from.
“Ultimately, Apple users will be able to access the global internet and make regular phone calls over a satellite link. The combination of fast 5G networks and satellite services may, one day, turn the iPhone into the most powerful global communications device.”
As Gurman states, the feature is not coming with the first-gen Apple Watch Pro series. However, there will still be some interesting features on the new Watch Pro. The new wearable will have a distinct design from the Apple Watch Series 8. It may bring flat edges, and will come with an evolution of the current rectangular shape, says Gurman. Apple also intends to bring a “more durable titanium formula”. The watch will bring a 1.99-inch screen with Sapphire. Furthermore, the watch will have a much more durable battery. The battery will be a key aspect of the new watch. Since it will withstand extreme activities for longer periods.
