If you believe that ASUS is done with the ROG Phone releases for this year, think again. After launching the ROG Phone 6 series with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the company is preparing a new ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate variant. Unlike the previous devices, this one will pack MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+. The chipset was launched back in the last month. As you can figure out, the chipset is the Taiwanese chipmaker’s response to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The new gaming smartphone will be unveiled on September 19, at least three weeks from now. There will be simultaneous events in New York, Berlin, and Taipei to reveal the new device.
ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will bring the Dimensity 9000+ to global markets
The ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will be one of the few smartphones with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+. However, it’s a really notable launch, since it allows MediaTek to go global with the new chipset. So far, the Dimensity 9000 series has been suffering from very limited availability. Most of the brands are opting for keeping the chipset in specific variants for the Chinese market. The ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will be a global device and we can easily notice this due to the simultaneous launch events.
Gizchina News of the week
To those unaware, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ promises 5% higher CPU and 10% higher GPU scores than the vanilla SoC. However, preliminary AnTuTu results, show that the Rog Phone 6D is a few percent behind the performance of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, the ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro. However, when it comes to the overall score, the phone’s score is higher than the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Anyway, these are just benchmarks and the real-life performance may differ. Of course, the ASUS Rog Phone 6D Ultimate as a gaming phone for enthusiasts of the genre needs to have outstanding performance.
Worth noting that Xiaomi also has a Dimensity 9000+ variant for the Xiaomi 12 Pro. However, that one is still limited to the Chinese market. There are more Chinese brands like iQOO expected to launch a new devices with the platform. Hopefully, this SoC will have better luck in getting into the International market.
