Samsung Officially Launches Android 12L For Older Foldables And Wear OS 3.5 For Watch 4, Is Your Foldable Getting The Update?

After launching their latest Foldables, the Fold 4 and the Flip 4 which came with Android 12L pre-installed, Samsung has been quite busy trying to get the same Android 12L running on their older foldables. Today, they announce that the work is finally done and they are prepared to release the Android 12L to users of the old folding devices.

If you don’t have any plans of upgrading your Galaxy Watch 4 to the Watch 5. You have nothing much to worry about. Samsung also launched the latest Wear OS for the Watch 4 as well. So you won’t lag behind in terms of latest features and performance.

The latest software will begin rolling out today to last year’s Foldables, the Galaxy Fold 3 and the Flip 3. The OTA update will shows as One UI 4.1.1 update, same version that runs on the Fold 4 and the Flip 4.

The update will then go even further to the 2020 editions. That is the Fold 2 and the Flip 2 (first edition of the Samsung Flip). If you have a foldable which is older than the Fold 2, Samsung has not left you behind. Without your first purchase, the Foldables would not have come this far. Samsung says thank you with the Android 12L. Yes, even the first ever Foldable is getting this latest update.

To sum it all up, all Samsung Folds and Flip phones are getting the latest Android 12L update. When the news came out that Samsung was working on an Android 12L update for old Foldable devices, we talked about it but no one knew which devices were going to get the latest update. Now Samsung has made it clear that it is an update for all Foldables.

The Android 12L Will Bring These New Features To Old Samsung Foldables

The Android 12L which runs on Samsung’s One UI 4.1.1 brings a redecorated Taskbar which enhances productivity and easy work flow. There is also new gesture control features. Unlike the previous version which required a number of steps to activate multitasking mode. You can now activate multitasking with just one gesture now, thanks to Android 12L. The second big feature is that, there is a new tweak option which allows you to easily take selfies with the cover screen.

With the Z Flip 3, the update focuses on the camera controls on the cover screen. You can also get the quick settings right from the cover screen as well as direct dialing of selected contacts.

Wear OS 3.5 Update Features On The Samsung Watch

On the wearable side, the Galaxy Watch 4 is getting the new Wear OS 3.5 based on One UI 4.5. After testing the Beta version of this update for some weeks now, Samsung is finally ready to release the final version to their Watch 4 users. One talking point of this update is the Samsung QWERTY keyboard app. With this, you can now reply messages easily on your Galaxy Watch. The update also brings some new watch faces to refresh the look of your smart watch.

Older Samsung watches like the Watch 3 and the Active 2 which run on Samsung’s Tizen OS will also get some new features through updates. According to Samsung, all the updates will start rolling out this week and extend to other regions with time.
