Apple TV joins the list of devices supporting 5.1 Surround on YouTube TV
According to YouTube, the content that supports 5.1 surround sound will play in that format automatically. You only need to be using the app on a compatible device. Now, the Apple TV currently sits on the list of compatible devices. Users will be able to check whether the YouTube TV content supports 5.1 audio. They only need to go to a video, select More, select the Bug, and check stats for nerds. To those unaware, the 5.1 audio offers a deeper, immersive surround audio experience. There are multiple brand-related names for it such as Dolby Digital, THX, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic. Interestingly, the addition of 5.1 audio reaches Apple TV a few months after Roku, Google TV, and Android TV.
