Twitter recently announced that it will roll out the much-awaited Edit Tweet feature, which will let users edit tweets after being published. However, the social media giant will let users edit their tweets only for up to 30 minutes from publishing. However, there is a catch.
The Twitterverse has been waiting for the edit tweet feature with bated breath for a long time. Much to the delight of Twitter users, the company began testing the Edit Tweet button in September. Now, a new report by TechCrunch suggests that Twitter will let users edit their tweets only five times within 30 minutes.
Notably, this is a sufficient limit for adding missed tags, correcting typos, or uploading media files. However, this limit could be Twitter’s attempt to restrict users abusing the feature. In other words, the American social network company wants to stop users from completely changing the tweet’s content after posting.
Twitter Edit Tweets Feature Will Work Up To 5 Times
Twitter has confirmed to TechCrunch it is presently observing the behavior of users. So, there is a possibility that the social media firm will change the number of edits available to users within the 30-minute time frame. Furthermore, Twitter will first roll out the Edit Tweet feature to Twitter Blue subscribers.

However, all paid users aren’t likely to get the feature initially. According to Twitter, subscribers in New Zealand will get the first. Later, the Edit Tweet feature will roll out to paid users in Australia. Canada, and the US. In the meantime, Twitter will keep an eye on usage patterns among New Zealand-based users.
This data will help Twitter determine the final edit limit within the 30-minute time slot. The company has a reputation for offering new features from time to time. For instance, Twitter introduced Podcasts as part of the Spaces section last month. It is unclear when the feature could launch for Twitter users in India and several other regions. Nevertheless, the company is likely to confirm its global availability in the coming days.
Some experts feel the Edit Tweet feature will help those spreading crypto scams and political misinformation. However, those instances are more likely to transpire if a lot of people start using the edit button tool. So, it is still too early to decide whether the Edit Tweet feature will turn out to be a hazard or an useful tool.
