Mark Zuckerberg’s team has introduced three new privacy-focused updates to WhatsApp last month. Quiet group exits, screenshot blocking in temporary messages, and online status hiding. Some Android users have already begun receiving this newest function.

WaBetaInfo reports that WhatsApp beta versions 2.22.20.7 and 2.22.20.9 for Android will eventually provide the ability to hide your online status. The global deployment will come after, like with any other experimental feature, although there is no deadline yet.

Whatsapp: This is how the new ability to hide your online status will work

In general, if a new feature first debuts in the WhatsApp Beta Program, there is a chance that it won’t make it into the stable version. The option to “hide online status” is very important. Since Meta made the formal announcement, our smartphones will eventually get the update.

It is fascinating to examine what we have found in the beta and learn how this new option targeted at enhancing privacy in the messaging app will function because its global deployment will become a reality at some point. Take a look at this screenshot from our colleagues at WaBetaInfo.

In Last seen section, the options will remain the same. In other words, we have the option of selecting “Everyone,” “My contacts, except,” or “Nobody.” But we will get a new option “Who can see when I’m online”. And you can choose between “Everyone” or “Same as last seen”. For the time being, we must wait to get this Whatsapp function. As well as others that are in the works.

Anyway, you can join the Beta Program on both iOS and Android. If you want to experiment the new features and want to contribute to the development of the application. By testing out new updates (it is not advised to use your primary account in this due to the dangers that imply).
