Samsung is the world’s largest smartphone maker. However, it is not ahead of all competitors in every market. In some markets, Samsung is far from being the leading brand. And in other countries, such as Mexico, Samsung needs to keep going. Mexico has an active smartphone user base of around 127 million. According to a recent report, Lenovo-owned Motorola was the leading OEM in Mexico in the second quarter of 2022, with a 28% share of smartphone sales.
Samsung was the second largest OEM in Mexico for the three-month period through June. The company accounts for 26% of smartphone sales for the entire quarter. Apple is in third place after Samsung. Apple’s shares have risen 3 per cent, taking 16 per cent of the market. Motorola’s share increased by 5% in the second quarter of 2022, while Samsung’s share was flat with last year. Other notable smartphone brands are Xiaomi, OPPO and Huawei. Xiaomi has a 13% market share, while OPPO and Huawei have 11% and 5%, respectively.
