Tesla is doing quite well in the electric car market and the Model Y appears to be its “golden boy”. Last month, the Tesla Model Y was Australia’s best-selling SUV with 4359 deliveries, and third overall in new vehicle sales. Only the Toyota Hilux (5170) and Ford Ranger (4890) sold more than the Model Y. A recent report also reveals that the Tesla Model Y is currently the best-selling car in Germany. The report shows that this car beat the Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Tiguan for the first time.
Data from the KBA (German Vehicle Administration) shows that the Model Y registered 9,846 units in September alone. This far exceeds the popular German-made Volkswagen Golf (7,095 units) and Volkswagen Tiguan (5,887 units). This performance may result from the optimal production of the Tesla Berlin Gigafactory. Earlier this month, Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory announced a weekly production capacity of 2,000 vehicles. This makes the Model Y an elusive leader in the German auto market. This car now comes closer to its goal of becoming the world’s best-selling car.

At its annual shareholder meeting in October, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Model Y should be the best-selling car, a milestone expected in 2023. Thanks to its Four factories: Fremont Factory, Shanghai Gigafactory, Texas Gigafactory and Berlin Gigafactory. In early August, Musk claims the Model Y is on track to be the best-selling vehicle this year. He also believes that the car will retain its position as the best-selling vehicle next year. In the first half of this year, Tesla Model Y registered 103,215 units in the U.S. market. This makes it the most registered electric vehicle in the U.S. followed by Model 3 (97,075 new registrations).
