Now, it looks like Motorola is gearing up to upgrade the Edge 30 series in the coming months. According to a report by ITHome, the Lenovo-owned company is on the verge of launching a follow-up to its well-received premium phone lineup. Moreover, the report suggests the new series will carry the Moto X40 moniker.
The report cites noted leaker Digital Chat Station who claims Motorola will launch the Moto X40 in China soon. Notably, the handset is likely to launch once Qualcomm unveils its next flagship chip. The chipmaker could launch the next-gen chip dubbed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in November.

So, the Moto X40 could turn out to be one of the world’s first smartphones to pack the latest flagship chip from Qualcomm. However, there is a myriad of other smartphones that will come with the same processor. For instance, the iQOO 11, the OnePlus 11 Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S23 series are likely to get the same chip.
The aforesaid smartphones could go official in Q1 of 2023. Furthermore, the report suggests the Moto X40 will support a high refresh rate. Also, it will sport a display with full HD+ resolution. For optics, the Moto X40 will house a 50MP primary sensor. The smartphone could offer 68W fast charging support as well.
These specs probably belong to the base variant of the Moto X40. Motorola could launch other variants including the Ultra at a later date. Moreover, the device could arrive on the global market as the Moto Edge 40 Pro. The Motorola Edge 40 Pro 5G will reportedly sport a 6.75 inches display.
