Over the past few years, the Chinese short video service, TikTok has been a sensation. The likes of Meta and Snap are now playing catch up to TikTok. Other popular brands have been copying its style. Nevertheless, the Chinese short video app keeps growing in users. According to reports from Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, its global daily active users (DAU) now exceed 1 billion. TikTok is struggling to handle its users. As it hits the 1 billion mark, the company had to deal with online user login issues. Its developers had to temporarily expand its capacity to allow new users to access it.
Before now, there were only four apps with a global daily activity exceeding 1 billion. These applications are Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube. However, some other applications like WeChat have a daily activity of around 900 million. According to another report from E-commerce Daily, TikTok has set a goal of exceeding 1.05 billion global daily active users (DAU) by the end of 2022. TikTok’s current global penetration rate is less than 20%. However, Douyin, the Chinese version has a penetration rate close to 54%. If it reaches a global penetration rate of 54%, TikTok will increase by more than 2 billion daily active users.

TikTok Stories can also be shared on Reddit and other platforms
TikTok released a sharing function to increase the exposure of its own content. Meta previously informed content creators that it prioritizes original content on Reels. It claims that the recommendation algorithm will pay attention to watermarks in videos. Retweeting original content may just provide a new way for TikTok creators to share their work. This will also increase exposure.
There are reports that TikTok Stories has introduced a new sharing interface. Previously, after users clicked the option, they could click on a friend’s avatar in the pop-up share menu. This will directly share original content with friends on the TikTok platform. This feature also allows users to save videos to their local device, and delete or change privacy settings.
