Vivo X90 to debut MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 SoC

As per reports, Vivo was working on a super flagship for 2022 dubbed Vivo X80 Pro+. However, the company scrapped this device after multiple delays. Also, due to the fact that the release of the Vivo X90 series is drawing near. The new smartphone series will debut in December, and the Vivo X90 Pro+ will be a “2023” flagship thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. We assume that the Vivo X90 Pro will bring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Apparently, even the vanilla will be a monster. The device will be one of the first, if not the first, with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC.

Vivo X90 alleged specifications

The Vivo X90 will bring MediaTek’s upcoming flagship chipset. The Taiwanese firm is set to debut the Dimensity 9200 sometime in the next month. As per the leaks, the processor will not mimic the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in all aspects, and perhaps will be slightly slow Qualcomm’s SoC. Anyway, it will bring a newer Cortex-X3 core and the Immortalis G715 GPU. This processor may be cheaper for manufacturers than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and that may help MediaTek to put it on more devices.

The Vivo X90 will also bring 120W charging, which is an advancement over the X80’s 80W charging. The info comes from tipster Digital Chat Station. According to him, the phone will bring a 1.5K display. To those unaware, this is how Chinese brands are calling panels with 2,880 x 1,220 pixels of resolution. Interestingly, the vanilla phone will also bring an IP rating. It’s the first time a vanilla phone brings water and dust protection. We can also expect a big battery, reportedly a 4,700 mAh cell, and a capable camera setup with Vivo’s custom ISP. The company recently detailed the camera tech behind its new Vivo X90 series alongside ZEISS.

Last but not least, we expect the entire series to run on Android 13-based Funtouch OS 13.
