The Moto G Play (2022) smartphone has popped up on the internet in the form of leaked images despite the lack of official confirmation. So, it is safe to assume that Motorola is prepping to expand its already impressive roster of smartphones.
Regrettably, the Moto G Play sub-brand did not garner a lot of popularity among Motorola fans. The 2021 version of the G Play was spotted on Google Play Console back in December 2020.
The Moto G Play (2021) went official in January 2021. Now, the 2022 variant of the handset could make its debut at some point in the coming months.

Furthermore, the Moto G Play (2022) is likely to bring a myriad of improvements over its predecessor. On the downside, the 2022 edition could retain the unimpressive overall specs of Moto G Play (2021).
Notably, the handset’s affordability can be attributed to its modest specs. However, the Moto G Play (2022) will pack a more powerful Helio G37 from Mediatek under the hood.
To recap, the Moto G Play (2021) uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 460 to draw its power. Also, the new G Play will carry an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance.

However, both the 2021 and the 2022 G Play models sport the same 6.5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen. The device will ship with 3GB of RAM and offer 32GB of onboard storage.
A 5,000 mAh battery will be powering up the entire system. According to a report by GSM Arena, this cell will support 10W charging.
The G Play (2022) will boot the Android 12 operating system. For optics, the handset will house three rear-mounted cameras including a 16MP main sensor.
Moreover, the G Play (2022) will get two 2MP sensors for macro and depth shots on the back. Upfront, the device houses a 5MP shooter for capturing selfies.
Overall, the Moto G Play (2022) has a different processor and improved cameras than its precursor. Also, it has a more appealing rear panel than the 2021 edition.
Motorola could divulge details about the Moto G Play (2022) launch date soon. In the meantime, the company is prepping to unveil the Moto X40.
