The Vivo X90 series may be the next big thing on Vivo’s portfolio, but the support continues for the Vivo X80. Today, the company shows its commitment to global Vivo X80 Pro owners with the Android 13 update. Unlike the Chinese version that runs OriginOS Ocean, the global models launched with FuntouchOS 12. The global units got the first FuntouchOS 13 beta last month, and are getting the stable update.
Vivo X80 Pro gets stable Android 13-based FuntouchOS 13
The update arrives on our Vivo X80 Pro in India with firmware version PD2185BF_EX_A_13.1.10.13.W30. It requires a download of 6.24 GB so make sure to download it over Wi-Fi. One interesting detail about this update is that it comes with November 1, 2022 security patch. It’s a major milestone for Vivo to provide the current security patch rather than an old one. The update also brings new features including Phone Cooling in the iManager app. This is a feature that prevents the phone from overheating. It will lower the CPU frequency by “reducing the running of apps”.
That said, Funtouch OS 13 will not bring major UI changes to Vivo X80 Pro. So, we’re not getting any visual refresh here. But honestly, this is common in the industry. Visually, Android 13 looks a lot like Android 12.
Gizchina News of the week
For now, the update is rolling out for the Vivo X80 Pro owners in India. However, we expect a wider rollout to happen in the next weeks. Those in India will get the update via an OTA notification. If it does not appear, you can try to force-check it in the Settings menu.
The Vivo X80 Pro was one of the more interesting Vivo phones launched in 2022. The device just got replaced by the Vivo X90 Pro and Vivo X90 Pro+. The latter arrived as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered phone. However, it will take a while to reach global markets. For the time being, the Vivo X80 Pro remains the latest Vivo X-series offering in global markets. More details will get stable Funtouch OS 13 soon, and you can follow the roadmap here.
