If Xiaomi raised the bar of fast charging with the launch of the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition, Realme wants to claim the top position with the Realme GT Neo 5. While the Note 12 phone carries 210W charging support, the upcoming Realme GT Neo 5 is rumored to break the barriers and bring 240W wired charging. For now, there is no word on the launch timeline for the Realme GT Neo 5, but the first leaked render has emerged showing the design of the phone.
The render comes from the folks at @OnLeaks in partnership with Smartprix and shows the phone’s rear design, and honestly, this means everything. Nowadays, most phones look the same when we look at the front. Notches, Punch-holes, and Curvy or Flat edges are the only things that make them different in the front. The back is what makes every device different, but in the case of the Realme GT Neo 5, there is something familiar. The design of the camera island resembles POCO’s signature design for its recent phones. There is a dual-step island that also resembles the first Pixel smartphones.
Gizchina News of the week
We have a huge black bar at the top housing a smaller left-aligned island with two big holes. There is a big camera at the top hole and two smaller ones at the bottom circle. The phone also seems to bring a quad-LED flash and the fancy “MATRIX AI CAMERA” text. The power button sits on the right of the frame, while the volume rocker presumably sits on the left part. The Realme logo sits at its usual place in the lowest corner of the back.
Realme GT Neo 5 specifications
As per the specifications, the rumors point to two distinct variants. One will have the underclocked version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, the same found on the Oppo Reno 9 Pro+. The other variant will have the less capable Dimensity 8200 SoC. The fancier gets 240W charging, while the lesser has 150W charging. We expect pricing differences between these two options. It’s not the first time we see two variants of a Realme GT Neo. But this time around, the differences are more significant. For that reason, we won’t be surprised to see Realme putting different names on each one.
In terms of optics, the phone should keep the main + ultrawide + depth combo. We’re probably looking at a 50 MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide, and 2 MP shooter. The selfie snapper is likely the usual 16 MP camera.
You may be curious about the battery capacity of this device. As per the leaks, the 240W charging variant will bring a 4,600 mAh battery. The one with 150W charging, as usual, gets the 5,000 mAh capacity.
The render only shows a single white colorway, but we can expect other options.
