But with all the leaks and the TEENA listing, it was pretty clear that the Series would come into full swing by late January or early February. So, what is making Samsung delay the launch?

The S23 Series Is Set to Come With a Custom Chipset

If you have been following the leaks and rumors, you probably already know that Samsung is taking a different route with the Galaxy S23 series. For example, Samsung will integrate an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which will be produced within the Samsung Foundry.

This decision will eventually lead to higher clock speed on the X-3-high performance core on the SD 8 Gen 2. Wondering how much of a difference will the overclocked chipset make? Well, the SD 8 Gen 2 that Samsung is working on will supposedly run at 3.32 GHz. In comparison, the regular TSMC version of the SoC runs at 3.2 GHz.

That said, this custom manufacturing of the SoC has definitely impacted the manufacturing cost of the Galaxy S23 Series. And Samsung might still be wondering how much impact it should make on the MSRP.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Will Boast a Beefed-up Primary Camera

As per the latest TEENA listing, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will come with a 200MP image sensor. However, recent rumors suggest that the sensor will be different than the ones found in the Xioami 12T and Motorola Edge 30 Ultra.

Again, this means Samsung had to put in some R&D and extra manufacturing costs for the S23 Ultra. This, like the custom CPU, might be making Samsung struggle a little to come up with the right MSRP for the S23 Ultra. Hence, there can be a delay in the launch of the S23 Series.

Why Does the Pricing Matter Anyway

Pricing is one of the crucial factors for a smartphone. You see, the smartphone market is highly competitive, especially in the premium or high-end range. So, if Samsung gets the pricing wrong, it might lose the potential success that the Galaxy S23 Series could have brought for the company.

What Is the Regular Timeframe for Samsung S Series Launch

This year, the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra debuted on February 9th. The launch of the S22 Series followed the official announcement, which was on February 25th.

Considering that and all the leaks we have been seeing so far, we were hoping the S23 Series would debut in the first week of February. In fact, most of us had high hopes that we would see the trio released on February 17th.

However, it seems like Samsung might need some extra time to make sure that it reads the market in terms of competition, manufacturing cost, supply and demand, economy, and other major factors. But that’s a good thing.

After all, it is always better to see flagships come out with the right price instead of being rushed out with an MSRP far from being reasonable for the market.
