TrendForce released a report today saying that it will lower Apple’s iPhone 14 series shipments in 2022 to 78.1 million units. TrendForce said that Foxconn has been the exclusive assembly of the Pro series for many years. However, due to risk control, Apple originally intends to find other brands to join the ranks of production and assembly. The report also claims that due to the impact of the epidemic on Foxconn’s utilization rate, Luxshare Precision is now set to get a part of the iPhone 15 Pro Max assembly supply chain.
At present, the iPhone foundry is still located in China, while the Vietnamese factory is mainly based on Apple peripherals. At the moment, there is no iPhone production in Vietnam. In terms of foreign production, the report claims that in addition to the existing Indian production capacity that will double next year, Vietnam factories are also planning to join production starting in mid-2023. In the next few years, the proportion of Apple’s production in India and Vietnam will climb to 30-35% of the total production capacity.
TrendForce predicts that in the first quarter of 2023, Apple’s iPhone shipments will further reduce to 47 million units. This is a 22% decline relative to the same period last year.
