The Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti is going to be launched pretty soon at an MSRP of $799. However, well ahead of the launch, we have got an early look at how the card is going to perform. Thanks to the people at Videocardz, the official performance numbers of the much-awaited GPU is out in the wild!
Although, a lot of us had already interpreted what the 4070 Ti would be like when Nvidia launched the RTX 4080 12 GB. The launch slides of 4080 gave a rough idea of the upcoming card’s performance. But as we have official benchmark numbers at hand, that speculation is now confirmed!
The Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti Will Be a Hugely Discounted 3090 Ti
At its core, the 4070 Ti scores are pretty much like the last generation king, the 3090 Ti. And whereas that card came with 24 GB of VRAM, the RTX 4070 Ti manages to score as high as that card with just 12 GB of VRAM.
We managed to get a full breakdown of the scores along with the relative positions from Videocardz. And it looks something like this:
Data from VideoCardz.com | TimeSpy Extreme (4K) | Firestrike Ultra (4K) |
GeForce RTX 4090 | 19484 | 24938 |
Radeon RX 7900 XTX | 14883 | 19465 |
GeForce RTX 4080 | 14022 | 17316 |
Radeon RX 7900 XT | 12707 | 17288 |
GeForce RTX 3090 Ti | 11312 | 13987 |
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti | 11258 | 13698 |
Radeon RX 6950 XT | 10694 | 15218 |
GeForce RTX 3090 | 10288 | 12612 |
Specs and Performance of the RTX 4070 Ti
The Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti is set to come with 7680 CUDA cores. It is clocked at 2.61 GHz and will be backed up by 12 GB GDDR6X memory. From these numbers, the theoretical peak FP32 throughput of the RTX 4070 Ti stands at 40.01 TFLOPs.
Gizchina News of the week
Interestingly, the benchmark numbers that we got from Videocardz show that the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti will be a bit less powerful than the Radeon RX 7900XT. And if you didn’t know, the AMD Radeon RX 79000XT has an MSRP of $899.
That means that Nvidia is undercutting the Radeon competitor by a good margin. And that will definitely make the RTX 4070 Ti a bit more appealing to the mainstream segment.
Value Proposition of the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti
Being within the mainstream budget is not the only thing that will make the RTX 4070 Ti. The card also offers a great value proposition, especially when you consider the TFLOPs/$. Take a look at the current 4000 series TFLOPs chart:
GPU | FP32 TFLOPS | MSRP | TFLOPS/$ |
GeForce RTX 4090 | 82.59 | 1599 | 0.05165 |
GeForce RTX 4080 | 48.74 | 1199 | 0.04065 |
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti | 40.09 | 799 | 0.05017 |
Yes, the RTX 4090 will sell like hotcakes. But when it comes to value, the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti is much closer to the 4090 than the 4080. We are speculating that this will make the 4070 Ti have higher sales than the 4080.
On the note of pricing, the MSRP of $799 is probably not the pricing that most gamers were hoping for. But you can not deny the fact that it is one of the best pricing on an Nvidia card we have seen in the market for years. And it will definitely make the RTX 4070 Ti at the top of the recommendation list for many.
Launch Details
We are expecting to see the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti launch at CES in January. And in case you are not familiar with Nvidia’s CES 2023 timing, it’s on January 3, 2023. So that means you will not need to do much more waiting to get more benchmarks of the card.
