According to a new report from WABetaInfo, the new version of WhatsApp will enable people to transfer WhatsApp data from one Android device to another without needing Google Drive. In other words, you will soon be able to do WhatsApp chat transfers using a local network.
This feature will be a great addition to the messaging app. It will get rid of the hassles that users generally have to go through to transfer their chats from one device to another. And the fact that it works on WiFi and WiFi Direct is basically a cherry on top!
WhatsApp Chat Transfers on Beta 2.23.1.26 and 2.23.1.27
The new WhatsApp chat transfer feature has been spotted on the latest beta versions. And as mentioned earlier, the feature is pretty straightforward. When you install WhatsApp on a new device, you get a new option to import chats. Once enabled, the feature will let you scan a QR code.

And on the other device, you need to go to WhatsApp settings and tap on the option for exporting or transferring chats to another device. That will bring up a QR code. Afterward, you need to scan the QR code with your new Android device. It will connect the devices through a local network and start the chat transferring process.
Now, the great part is that this new WhatsApp feature will do more than just simplify chat transfers. It will also make the transferring process significantly faster than the currently available method.
That said, this new feature is still in the development stages. And we do not have any concrete info on when the feature will roll out. But we expect it to be available to WhatsApp beta testers soon. Once WhatsApp is done testing the feature, it will eventually be available in the stable version. And when it does, chat transfers on WhatsApp will be an effortless task.
