This report shows that the Apple Airtag is not just doing some works of the “Find My” feature, it is also beginning to take over the work of the rescue mission. Well, let’s just say it is making the work of the rescue team much easier.
Apple Airtag Helps Locate a Missing Dog
The report says that the Apple Airtag helped locate and saved the life of a lost dog. This dog was taken away by the recent California floods. The Australian Shepherd by name Seamus moved away from its owner during a walk and mistakenly fell into a fast-moving storm drain during a walk.
Gizchina News of the week
Seamus fell into a flood control basin and was quickly swept away from his owner who did not stand a chance of saving him at that moment. Seamus was able to crawl out of an access tube. Thanks to the Apple Airtag on Seamus’ collar, rescuers were able to find his owner. The owner was also able to locate Seamus using Airtag to track his location.
The drainage network took Seamus through a distance of about 1 mile after which he was stuck at the bottom of an access tube. After the successful rescue, the San Bernardino County Fire Department posted on its Facebook page. The post states that both the Airtag and conventional ID Tag helped both rescuers and owners in locating the dog.
Apple Does not Recommend Using Airtag on Pets
Apple basically designed the Airtag to help track items. The company does not recommend using it to track children and pets. This is because the Airtag does not come with a built-in GPS. It requires a near-by phone in order to work. However, many pet owners still use it on their pets.
