The POCO X5 Pro has been the talk of the town during the past few weeks. The phone will launch alongside the POCO X5 and seems to be an incremental upgrade over the POCO X4 Pro. Besides the POCO X5 series, there is another eagerly awaited lineup – the POCO F5 series. Apparently, the new smartphones aren’t too far from a release. The POCO F5 Pro just got its FCC certification which hints at a global release very soon.
The POCO F5 Pro release is getting closer
The new smartphone got FCC approval with model number 23013PC75G. FCC is not the most revealing of the certifications, however, thanks to a previous IMEI certification, it was possible to identify this model number as the one belonging to the POCO F5 Pro. To those unaware, this phone marks a comeback for the POCO F Pro series. The last POCO F Pro was launched in 2020 in the form of the POCO F2 Pro. The device got a mixed reception. It was not a bad phone, but it was the first F-series phone since the launch of the Pocophone F1, and users were expecting more than just a rebranded Redmi K-series phone.
Gizchina News of the week
In 2021 and 2022, we had the POCO F3 and POCO F4, respectively. Since POCO is mostly a rebranding brand nowadays, these phones were based on Redmi K40 and K50 series phones. As a result, we can already expect the POCO F5 Pro to be based on a Redmi K60 series phone. This year, Redmi launched three Redmi K60 series phones – Redmi K60E, K60, and K60 Pro. The vanilla brings the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, whereas the K60 Pro has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. We may see the two devices reaching global markets as POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro. However, some rumors point to the POCO F5 Pro as a rebranded Redmi K60.
So far, details are scarce about the POCO F5 Pro, however, we already know it will run MIUI 14 with Android 13. Furthermore, the smartphone will come with Wi-Fi 6 support, NFC, and Bluetooth 5. x. The leaks also confirm smartphone variants with 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB. We will have to wait for more details, however, we expect the POCO F5 series to launch before the end of Q1 2023. The upcoming POCO X5 series will make its debut very soon, and the new mid-range smartphones will likely be followed by the POCO F5 series.
