Despite the strong competition, Samsung still has certain advantages as the world’s top phone maker. The company will use an exclusive SD8 Gen 2 CPU ahead of its rivals, now it is also set to introduce an all-new Gorilla Glass Victus 2 tech from Corning. This is not the first time that the Korean brand serves to introduced a new Corning product. The company introduced the Gorilla Glass Victus, and the Galaxy S22 series was the first with the Victus+. Now, the Galaxy S23 series is set to debut the new technology.
The Galaxy S23 series will have one of the industry’s toughest glass
Corning is raising its ambition in display protection tech. This time around, the Victus 2 comes to survive drops, including falls on very rough surfaces. We all know that scratch resistance is useful, but falls are the real threat to phone displays. According to Corning, the new tech can survive on surfaces like concrete from up to 1m or up to 2m if it falls on asphalt. Obviously, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will keep the tradition of being scratch resistant. So it brings extra drop resistance, plus an improved scratch resistance on the Galaxy S23 phones.

The new technology comes with 22% of “pre-consumer” recycled content, and that gave Corning the Environmental Claim Validation Mark. Although Corning did not mention the Galaxy S23 series, it’s not hard to assume the tech is coming with these devices. Samsung’s VP and Chief Marketing Officer gave a statement about the new glass:
“Our next generation of Galaxy Flagship phones are the first devices to use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. They will offer better durability and improved sustainability at the same time”.
Corning also mentioned the “newest Galaxy phones”:
“We are proud to continue our long partnership with the brand and have our latest innovations play a vital role in the new Galaxy phones”.
Obviously, with the “new Galaxy phones” or “next Galaxy Flagships”, it’s easy to understand both are talking about the Galaxy S23 series. The new flagships will go official the next Wednesday, February 1st. The new glass coating is one more technology that will count in favor of these flagships. The phones will also bring a unique SD8 Gen 2 CPU, and a 200 MP camera.
