Earlier this month, a cryptic teaser from Honor leaked suggesting the arrival of a new Magic series. More than that the company decided to mock Samsung with the following slogan: “Go Beyond the Galaxy to Witness the Real Magic”. Obviously, this is a teaser for the Honor Magic5 series challenging the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series. Now, Honor has finally confirmed when we will be able to “witness the real magic”. The brand will attend MWC Barcelona on February 27. During the event, we will see the Honor Magic5 series going global. More than that, the brand will also bring the Honor Magic Vs to the global scene. So we will finally get one more competitor for the Samsung Galaxy Z series.
The Honor event will begin at 13:30 CET and will be streamed. Interestingly, the arrival of the Honor Magic Vs in the global scene has been teased by Tony Ran, president of Honor EU. The executive pointed to Q1 2023 as the time frame for the device’s global release. The device will certainly threaten Samsung’s dominance in the global segment, thanks to its gorgeous design and capable specifications. However, theĀ Honor Magic5 series will go punch the Galaxy S23 series.
Gizchina News of the week
Honor Magic5 series will threaten the Galaxy S23 series
Just like the Samsung S23 series, the Honor Magic5 series will bring three phones. There will be an Honor Magic5, Magic5 Pro, and Magic5 Ultimate. All three smartphones will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. According to leaks, these phones will also support up to 100x zoom thanks to the use of hybrid technology. The optical zoom should stay at 10x. We don’t know if Honor will bring the 160MP cameras of the Honor 80 series, or will be more conservative. The phones will also bring OLED displays with high-refresh-rate, and fast-charging tech. In addition to the flagship smartphones, there is also an Honor Magic5 Lite. According to Google Play Listing, this one is a modest device with the Snapdragon 695.
So far, details are still scarce about the Honor Magic5 series. We have a few leaks, but not many details of their specifications. Since there is almost a full month to go before their release, we expect February to shed more light on these devices’ specs.
