A report released a few hours ago by Statcounter reveals the latest stats about internet browsers for January 2023. Among all internet browsers, Google Chrome ranks first with a global market share of 65.4% in January. This is an increase of 0.72% from the previous month’s 64.68% market share. Apple Safari ranks a distant second with an 18.71% share, an increase of 0.42% from the previous month. Microsoft’s Edge is third with a share of 4.46%, an increase of 0.23% from the previous month. In fourth position is Mozilla’s Firefox with a share of 3%, a decrease of 0.01% from the previous month. Browsers such as Samsung Browser, Opera, and UC Browser divide the remaining market share.

Chrome claims desktop and mobile markets

On the desktop side, Chrome ranks first with a global market share of 66.39% in January, an increase of 0.25% from the previous month’s 66.14% market share. Edge ranks second with an 11.09% share, an increase of 0.11% from the previous month. Safari is third with a share of 9.33%, an increase of 0.32% from the previous month. Firefox ranks fourth with a share of 6.87%, a decrease of 0.34% from the previous month. Internet browsers such as Opera, 360 Safe Browser, and IE divide the remaining market share.

From the perspective of the overall share from December 2019 to January 2023, the Microsoft Edge browser, as a dark horse, has steadily risen to 11.09%, while the Firefox browser has experienced a significant share decline, about 10% down to the current 6.87%.

On the mobile phone side, Chrome ranks first with a global market share of 65.35% in January. This is an increase of 1.04% from the previous month’s 64.31% market share. Safari is second with a 24.45% share, an increase of 0.90% from the previous month. Samsung browser claims the third position with a share of 4.46%, down 0.60% from the previous month. Opera is fourth with a share of 1.78%, up 0.14% from the previous month. UC Browser, Android browser, Firefox and other browsers divide the remaining market share.
