WhatsApp is the world’s most popular messaging app but that does not necessarily make it the best messaging app. There may be other apps that truly offer more useful features than WhatsApp. A notable example is Telegram but I will not talk about its features for now. That should be a topic for later discussion.
The WhatsApp teams seems to have worked harder than ever lately. Almost every week, we see or hear of a new feature coming to the Meta owned platform. This clearly shows how much WhatsApp is trying to keep its dominance and also become the best.
WhatsApp Community Reaction in the Works
A new report suggests that WhatsApp is currently working on a new feature. This new feature will allow users to react to community announcements anonymously. According to the report, WhatsApp was spotted working on an iOS version of this feature. That does not necessarily mean that it will not be on Android too. A different team may probably be working on the Android version.
This feature is already available for individual chats as well as group chats. Users can use it by simply selecting the particular message they want to react to and tap an any emoji to react to it.
Gizchina News of the week
WABetainfo also reported that WhatsApp is currently working on a a new feature for the Beta version of an upcoming iOS. This feature will allow users to instantly react to a community announcement. Just like users are able to do in normal chats and group chats.
Even though it has been available for group and individual chats for a while, community announcements are now about to experience it. This is because reacting to community announcements could reveal your phone number which should not be the case. With this update, users who react to WhatsApp community announcements can do so without revealing their phone numbers.
WABetainfo also shared a screenshot of the feature at work. The screenshot shows a community announcement with a banner that reads, “To view and send reactions in this chat, update WhatsApp.”
When will the New WhatsApp Community Reaction Feature Become Available?
With the information we received, WhatsApp is currently working on this new feature with no information regarding its release date. When the development is complete, it will be in beta test before the final version rolls out. This is for the iOS version; we do not have any information on the Android version yet.
