The OnePlus Nord 2 was a massive success. Not only did the phone impress its users with eye-catching looks, but it also excelled in terms of performance. Yes, it was a midrange phone. However, for the money, it offered a lot. But the phone was released two years ago, in the summer of 2021! So, will there not be a OnePlus Nord 3?
Well, the Nord 2 is about to see the final year of software support in 2024. And a potential OnePlus Nord 3 has just made its way on Twitter. However, the tipster is not that renowned. So, you know what’s up. Take all the info that you are about to read with grains of salt.
OnePlus Nord 3 Specs Leaked
The leakster has just spilled the beans on what the upcoming OnePlus Nord 3 is about to pack under the hood. So, let’s not keep you waiting and get right into the leaked specifications:
- 6.74” AMOLED display
- 120Hz refresh rate
- Flat sides
- A Dimensity 8200 SoC
- 100W charging speeds
- A battery between 4,500 and 5,000 mAh
- Triple camera array
- OxygenOS 13.1 based on Android 13
- An alert slider
Here, the thing that might alarm you is the Diemsity 8200 SoC. Well, a better chipset from MediaTek is already out, which is the Dimensity 9200. However, that SoC is for high-end devices, and it does not belong in the Nord series. So, it makes sense why OnePlus chose the slightly lower-end 8200 for the Nord 3.
Gizchina News of the week
Now, the Nord 2 came with Dimensity 1200, a brand new chipset when the phone was released. Likewise, the Dimensity 8200 is also new. MediaTek just released it last year. And compared to the Dimensity 1200, the 8200 is way better in terms of speed and battery life. So, the performance of the OnePlus Nord 3 should not be a major concern.
What About the Camera Setup?
The leakster did not offer any solid information about the camera setup of the OnePlus Nord 3. He just mentioned that the phone would feature a triple camera array on the back. Now, the triple-camera setup is nothing new. Even the Nord 2 came with a trio setup.
Now, to give you a flashback, the OnePlus Nord 2 had a 50MP primary sensor. It was paired up with a 5MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. Back then, this combination of cameras was considered to be pretty modern.
So, even if OnePlus Nord 3 comes with a similar setup but better sensors, it can surely ace the mid-range competition. Now, taking a closer look at the sketch, you will notice that the top camera housing is larger than the bottom one. That means OnePlus could integrate a large primary sensor into the Nord 3.
As the secondary camera housing is relatively small, there is a low chance of the Nord 3 coming with high-end secondary sensors. In fact, OnePlus might stick with the same ones found in the Nord 2.
Furthermore, by looking a bit farther, you will notice two holes beside the camera setup. One might be for flash, but what about the other? Well, OnePlus might integrate some type of special sensor into that hole. Maybe, it could be an advanced laser autofocus?
Nonetheless, the main thing about this leak on OnePlus Nord 3 is that its spec sheet is looking pretty promising. If OnePlus manages to tuck a good combination of sensors, it can definitely be a solid mid-range device. Still, we need more reliable info before making a conclusion such as that. And we hope to get them pretty soon.
