Realme is gearing up to introduce the new Realme GT Neo 5 smartphone. The new device will go official in China and will stand as a strong competitor for the Redmi K60. As usual in this world of leaks, the Realme GT Neo 5 will come without many surprises left to the fans. Most of its specifications and features are already out. The 240W charging tech was one of the first details to appear, but the rumors have been suggesting another variant with slower charging but a bigger battery. Today, this second option is confirmed.
Realme GT Neo 5 will come in a 150W charging variant with a 5000mAh battery
When Realme introduced the Realme GT Neo 3 it was its fastest-charging smartphone with 150W charging. However, to withstand that charging speed, the company had to pack it with a dual-cell battery of 4,500 mAh. Of course, not all users are happily sacrificing battery capacity for faster charging. For that reason, the company launched an alternative variant with a 5,000 mAh battery and 80W charging. This year, the same will happen with the Realme GT Neo 5. The brand will also launch a 5,000 mAh option, but this time around, it will bring 150W charging.
Gizchina News of the week
Today, Realme’s senior executive shared a teaser image that confirms the 150W charging variant. It’s impressive to see that after one year, Realme managed to pair this charging speed with the larger 5,000 mAh battery. The new phone will charge from 0 to 100% in 16 minutes. For comparison, the one with 240W charging will charge in about 9 minutes. We are pretty sure that this is more than enough for some users, but there’s a catch.
One would easily pick the 150W charging with a 5,000 mAh battery, right? It has a bigger battery and the charging speed is more than adequate for most users. Apparently, there is another big difference between this and the main variant. The rumors say that the 240W charging will have the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but the 150W charging can get the Dimensity 8200 CPU. The SD8+ Gen 1 is undoubtedly faster than the Dimensity 8200 SoC. For some users, that’s a major difference that will set the two variants apart.
For now, we have to wait for confirmation. We won’t need to wait much longer, as the phone is set to hit the Chinese market on February 9. For now, we are curious to see if both variants will escape China.
