The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro were unveiled in China in December last year. Xiaomi has been sticking with this strategy of early flagship releases to take a ride on the hype of a new Snapdragon SoC. As a result, the Xiaomi 13 duo was among the first devices with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. A few months have passed, and Xiaomi fans have been eagerly waiting for news in regard to the global release. Well, the wait is almost over! The brand has just confirmed the launch of the two devices for February 26 at MWC. Interestingly, the Xiaomi 13 series will launch one day before the Honor Magic5 and Magic Vs global launch. Xiaomi’s event will be live-streamed at 9:30 PM IST on Xiaomi’s official website.
The company’s press release only mentions the Xiaomi 13 Pro, but we know that the two phones are coming on that date. A Tweet from Xiaomi’s founder Lei Jun confirms: “The Xiaomi 13 series Launch event is on February 26th”. Note the use of the “term series” so we can assume that both the vanilla and Pro models will be launched on February 26. They have similar specs, but the Xiaomi 13 Pro has the edge. Curiously, the Tweet has an image of someone asking ChatGPT when the Xiaomi 13 series will launch. The robot obviously does not know, but Lei Jun states “Nice try ChatGPT, add this to your database” and then, he proceeds to confirm the data.
