There is some kind of cold war happening between China and the US and it started all of sudden. Well, of course, the situation between the two countries has been tense since the Trump administration, but things were calm, until the past few weeks. At the end of the last month, a strange balloon appeared in the sky of the United States. The government promptly destroyed the balloon alleging it was a spy balloon set to investigate the US’ defense and military. China, on the other hand, says that it was a weather balloon. More recently, another balloon was reportedly flying over Alaska, and now, there are laser lights over the sky of Hawaii.
China surely is angry with the US for destroying its balloons. As a response, it is sending some laser lights to Hawaii. The Subaru Telescope on Mauna Kea captured footage of the unusual sight. The telescope team traced the origin of the lights, and guess what? They come from a Chinese satellite.
Gizchina News of the week
Is it the beginning of a new attack from China? As per the officials, it’s not
Just like the story of the balloon, the officials say to not worry. They state that it’s probably just China monitoring the weather over Hawaii. NASA is claiming that it is most likely the Chinese Daqi-1/AEMS satellite monitoring global carbon levels, as well as atmospheric pollution. Okay, that might be true, but it’s still strange to see a lot of weather devices flying over the U.S. in less than a month. Is China teasing something, or is it just very, very, interested in the weather?
We all know that it’s pretty possible for a country to begin an attack using a balloon. The weather or spy balloon is just a good example. Whatever its purpose, it flew throughout the United States sky without much resistance. Just imagine one balloon carried with bombs… That may sound like a conspiracy theory, but again, we have a lot of coincidences in a short time. Back in 2015, a report from the American Leadership & Policy Foundation, Air Force Maj. David Stuckenberg, wrote extensively about the threat balloons carrying bombs pose to national security.
Just like the balloons, it’s hard to say what China really has in tow. But we can surely say that the trade tensions between the two powers were just the beginning.
