One of the most intriguing happenings since the Oppo and OnePlus merger was seeing the former Oppo Reno Ace series becoming the OnePlus Ace series. Okay, maybe they’re not so related, but we can see a certain level of inspiration. The OnePlus Ace series is a cost-effective flagship lineup that started last year. This year, OnePlus launched the OnePlus Ace 2 with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The device starts the new generation with style. Apparently, it won’t be alone for much longer.
Some rumors were suggesting the launch of a new OnePlus Ace 2 variant featuring a different chipset. Today, OnePlus China’s President Li Jie seems to be confirming this. Apparently, OnePlus will launch a more affordable version of the phone with the Dimensity 9000 CPU. The teaser shows an image with two playing cards.
Gizchina News of the week
OnePlus Ace 2 Dimensity edition will have more differences
The new version will pack the last year’s MediaTek Dimensity 9000 CPU. It comes with TSMC’s 4nm architecture, 1 x ARM Cortex-X2, 3 x ARM Cortex-A710, and 4 x ARM Cortex-A510 cores. It’s still one of the best chipsets in the market, but some will still prefer the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 variant, which has certain advantages. Anyway, if you’re up to saving some money, then this variant will be more attractive.
As per the tipster Digital Chat Station, this OnePlus Ace 2 variant will also have camera changes. It will switch the 50 MP camera (IMX890) for a 64 MP (OV64M) from OmniVision. The changes may not end here. Apparently, the phone will also switch the 100W fast charging for “just” 80W charging. That may be the lowest in the Ace 2 series, but is still way beyond the vast majority of smartphones in the market.
The OnePlus Ace 2 with the Dimensity received certification with a PHP110 model number. Considering this, its release may be drawing near. We are curious to see whether there will be any global variant for this handset. The OnePlus Ace 2 with SD8+ Gen 1 is available in India as OnePlus 11R. We don’t believe in a Dimensity edition for the OnePlus 11R, but the device may come in another form. Perhaps as cost-effective flagship from Realme. Only time will tell.
Worth noting, that there are also some rumors pointing to the launch of a Oneplus Ace 2 Pro.
