This user attached a gigantic 30,000 mAh battery to his phone

30,000 mAh big smartphone battery

Smartphones have come a long way in the past few years with the introduction of new advanced technologies. However, one aspect of smartphones that has remained static is the battery capacity. Even the largest phones today rarely exceed 5,000mAh. This limitation means that the phone’s battery may struggle to last for two days without charging.

A gigantic 30,000 mAh battery is attached to this Samsung smartphone

Redditor Downtown_Cranberry44 has taken battery capacity to a new level with their modded Samsung Galaxy A32 5G. They have modified the phone with an astounding 30,000mAh battery. This mid-range Samsung phone from 2021 currently sells for less than $200 and comes with a 5,000mAh battery. However, this Redditor has managed to increase the phone’s battery capacity by six times its original size.

Gizchina News of the week

To achieve this modification, they replaced the internal battery with an external pack that consists of six Samsung 50E cells wired in parallel. The result is a total capacity of 30,000mAh, which can last over a week before running out of power. The phone does not recognize the external battery pack and still shows its original capacity. It also no longer reads the battery level correctly and always reports 1%.

While this modification is impressive, it comes with some drawbacks. The handset looks bulky and weighs over a pound (over 450 grams), which is more than twice the original weight of the phone. Additionally, the modified Galaxy A32 5G reportedly took seven hours to charge fully, and it’s unclear if all charging ports charge the phone at the same speed.

This modification has also added multiple charging ports to the phone. It supports fast charging via USB Type-C, Apple lightning, and MicroUSB ports. Moreover, it supports reverse fast charging through two USB Type-A ports and a USB Type-C port, making it possible to use the handset as a 30,000mAh power bank.

While this modification is undoubtedly impressive, it’s not something that should be replicated by the general public. The modification may not be practical to carry around. Therefore, it’s just a fun project for experts and enthusiasts.
