Realme GT Neo 5 SE spotted with new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 variant

Realme launched the Realme GT Neo 5 last month in China, and in a sudden twist of fates, it launched a few weeks later as Realme GT3 for international markets. We don’t know if the global market will miss a new Realme GT Neo series phone, but the company has one more variant in tow. As per recent leaks, Realme is developing a new Realme GT Neo 5 SE variant for China. It was spotted at the 3C certification, MIIT, and TENAA with the RMX3700 model number. Today, the phone was spotted in the Geekbench benchmark database. As per the tipster Mukul Sharma, the phone comes with an unannounced version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Realme GT Neo 5 SE spotted with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Youth Edition

The same Realme GT Neo 5 SE with model number RMX3700 crossed multiple certifications. The phone scored 390 points in Geekbench ML tests. The listing confirms at least one variant with 8 GB of RAM, and obviously, it runs Android 13. The biggest novelty here is that it runs a different Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU. According to Sharma, this is a different version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Okay, we already saw an underclocked version of this CPU running on phones like the Oppo Reno 9 Pro+, is this still different? Apparently, yes.

The CPU has a “taro” codename and brings 1 x ARM Cortex-X2 clocked at 2.92 GHz, 3 x ARM Cortex-A710 cores at up to 2.50 GHz, and 4 x ARM Cortex-A510 cores at 1.80 GHz. As per Digital Chat Station, we already know some of the specs coming with the Realme GT Neo 5 SE. As per the leak, the phone has a 6.74-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution. The panel will get a 144 Hz refresh rate and will have 2,160 PWM Dimming.

Alleged specifications

The Realme GT Neo 5 SE has a centered punch-hole cutout. The camera department has a 64 MP OmniVision sensor with f/1.79 aperture and OIS. The sensor also packs a secondary 8 MP ultrawide shooter and a 2 MP macro snapper. The front-facing camera is a 16 MP Sony IMX 471 module. The camera setup screams mid-range. However, OIS is certainly what makes this device different from other phones in the category.

Realme GT Neo 5

The Realme GT Neo 5 SE will have the largest battery of the family with a 5,500 mAh capacity. To recall, the Realme GT Neo 5 has two versions – one with a 4,600 mAh battery and 240W charging, and another one with a 5,000 mAh battery and 150W charging. Although it gets the biggest battery, it gets the “slowest” charging – 100W charging. Okay, this is the slowest of the family but is on par with flagship phones.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Youth Edition or Snapdragon 7 Gen 2?

As for the chipset, Sharma says that it may come as Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Youth Edition. Worth noting, however, that old rumors pointed to the phone with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. The new mid-range CPU will resemble the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with underclocked cores and an Adreno 725. Thus, we would not be surprised if the Youth Edition turns out to be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. Qualcomm will reveal the new CPU on March 17.
