Several countries are actively building up the 5G network as a new generation of communication tech because of its perks of fast speed and low latency. We are all aware that India did not introduce 5G first. One may even argue that it did so somewhat slowly. Still, India’s rapid 5G development is laudable. According to CNMO, Borje Ekholm, the CEO of Ericsson global, by the end of 2023, India will be leading the pack in terms of 5G spread. He also clarified that he meant the speed of 5G spread and not early launch.
Ekholm lauded India’s 5G rollout speed in an interview. He also claims that India has a large number of top-notch software engineers. For him, India is a significant market. We already employ up to 25,000 people in India, and we plan to increase and strengthen our R&D, software development, and other operations going forward, he said.

India 5G network spread is growing fast
High-speed 5G services were only made available in India by telecom service providers from October 2022. Prior to that, in August 2022, the government sent letters to telecom service providers. These letters asked them to get ready for the launch of 5G services in India. The amount of bids from the 5G spectrum auction that were submitted for the Indian telecom industry is astounding.
Ekholm has been quite supportive of the growth of 5G in nations like China and India. In addition, he has already said in public that India is superior to the US and Europe in terms of building out 5G network infrastructure, which has helped to pave the way for the growth of the nation’s domestic IT sector. According to Ekholm, the global rollout of equipment to support 5G tech is still in its early stages. He claims that China is taking the lead and that the United States is growing more rapidly than Europe.
