Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has made another exciting announcement about the company’s instant messaging app, WhatsApp. This announcement is about a couple of new features for groups which will give Admins more control over their respective groups. This will also make all users in a group find it easier to navigate. Zuckerberg made this announcement on his Instagram Broadcast Channel.
More Control Over WhatsApp Groups
With the new update, group admins can now have an extra control in determining who can or can’t join the group. This means when the admin shares a group link or open it up to a community, not everyone can join. Even with the link, the group admin can still decide to restrict you from joining.
By explaining this, Meta said this will allow group admins to have control over the privacy and security of their groups. This is because, they will now have the power to ensure that only trusted individuals can join the group.

That is not all, Meta also spoke of another important feature which makes it a lot easier to check which groups you have in common with an individual. This feature will be very useful to users who happen to be in large groups and communities. Users who have also forgotten some of their groups will find this very handy. All they have to do is to search for a contact to see the groups they have in common.
WhatsApp Groups Getting More Enhancements
Meta has promised to enhance the experience of groups and communities in its messaging app. These two features are part of such enhancements. Recently, the app also opened up the number of members a group could take. Group admins also got the power to delete messages that were sent to groups. This will go the long way to avoid unnecessary messages in WhatsApp groups.
Meta has said that these new group features will make managing of groups a lot easier than before. Users in groups will also enjoy the tools more. The feature is not yet out but Meta says it will be out to global users in some few weeks.
